Gumusluk (Goo-moosh-look), where the apartment is located, is one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula, about 20 minutes by car or local minibus from Bodrum. It is still a lively fishing port, with more several fish restaurants along the sea front, some right at the waters edge, displaying a wide variety of locally caught seafood.

Gumusluk was once the ancient city of Myndos, and today barely submerged remains of the city can be seen in the sea which is a magnet for snorkellers and underwater photographers.

The village is now in a conservation area, so no cars are allowed in the center and building is strictly controlled - buildings above two stories are not allowed. Because Gumusluk is facing west there are some spectacular sunsets.

Country walks around Gumusluk are invigorating and rewarding, especially in spring and early summer when riotous displays of wild flowers cast their rural spell and mingle their fragrance with the smell of the sea.

'Rabbit Island', is situated in the middle of the bay and seperates the two well-sheltered bays of Gumusluk. It is possible to wade to the island through knee-deep water and sunbathe and dive from the many rock formations. The island offers a magnificent panorama and, yes, a glimpse of rabbits scurrying around.
