Bodrum

Bodrum is just 15km away from the apartment and stands on the site of the ancient city of Halicanassus, home to the remains of King Mausolous' tomb, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

It is situated on the southwest coast of Turkey, with its two harbours open to the Aegean. The 15th century crusader castle of St. Peter dominates Bodrum. Whether entering the town by land or sea, one cannot help but be struck by the Castle's sturdy presence. One of the world's best preserved monuments from medieval times, Bodrum Castle's origins go back to the Knights of St. John. The castle is now the location of the excellent museum of underwater archaeology and is well worth a visit. See our page on Bodrum for more information.

windsurfing in Bitez

Bitez

Bitez is situated between the apartment at Gumusluk and Bodrum being only 10 minutes from Bodrum town. Bitez successfully combines a centuries old way of life with a full range of tourists amenities, and is a favorite haunt of both, wind surfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and also those in pursuit of calm and tranquillity in an unspoiled setting.

Lapped by the tiny waves of the Aegean, the beach is the center of activity. There are many small cafes along the length of the beach, and a few small shops selling beach essentials. Top windsurfing enthusiasts have long known Bitez as a venue for international competitions. Professionals and beginners alike will find the bay ideal for learning the basic skills or perfecting techniques. Equipment may be hired from one of the surf schools. Sailing dinghies and small catamarans may be hired, and qualified instruction is also available.
